Gunpowder Green Tea gets its name from the characteristic shape of its leaves, tightly rolled to resemble small grains of gunpowder.

This processing is not just aesthetic: the compact rolling protects the essential oils of the leaf, allowing the tea to retain its aroma and freshness longer.

It is an unoxidized green tea, processed according to a traditional method that involves immediately stopping oxidation after heat treatment. When steeped, it gradually releases its character, offering a bright yellow-green cup with a decided yet clean profile.

  • aroma: fresh and vegetal, with slight spicy undertones.
  • taste: decisive and persistent, with a pleasant bitter note.
  • leaf appearance: small, compact spheres, dark green and silver in color.
  • processing: tightly rolled leaves to preserve aroma and structure.

Western method:

  • dosage: 3 grams per 250 ml of water.
  • water temperature: 80°C.
  • infusion time: 2-3 minutes.

Gunpowder Green Tea is appreciated for its natural antioxidant content and its stimulating effect due to the presence of caffeine.

Its strong profile makes it suitable for those seeking an energizing drink, capable of accompanying the day with character. Traditionally, it is also used as a base for preparations with fresh mint, as is common in North Africa.
